While the east of the country will see a fairly gloomy week ahead, the weekend marks a hike in temperatures with most parts expected to bask in some much-welcomed spring sunshine.

Saturday will see highs of around 14C, before the mercury rises to a balmy 25C thanks to hot air moving in from the continent.
And while Brits could be heading outdoors to enjoy the bright weather, holiday makers in Kefalonia, Greece, are looking at temperatures of around 20C - five below those forecast in the UK.

Even Scotland is set to verge on 21C, according to STV weather presenter Sean Batty.
The Weather Company, the world’s biggest commercial forecaster, confirmed above-average temperatures are due from the weekend lasting for up to a week.
And Weather Outlook forecaster Brian Gaze said: “Forecast models show very warm temperatures which could see highs into the mid-20s.”

A Met Office forecaster said: “Bright or sunny spells will develop for most after Saturday morning.
"Showers are possible. It is likely to become gradually more settled, with dry and sunny weather.

"It will be locally warm in central and southeastern areas, with a marked changed for the east and northeast, where it will be warmer than of late.
“For many, temperatures are likely to be above average towards the end of the period from Saturday to April 23, with a reduced chance of rain.
“There will be the chance of windier conditions in the west though, with some rain possible.”
While April is expected to finally bring Brits some warm weather, the long-term forecast predicts highs of possibly 27C next month, perfect conditions for the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle .
