Vulnerable residents in Dereham are being supported through a council derived delivery service.
Breckland councillor Alison Webb, the executive
member for health and housing alongside councillor Philip Duigan and
Hilary Bushell, have set-up Dereham Cares.
It
aims to support community hubs, created by the government, by arranging
deliveries of groceries and medicines to those in need.
Volunteers
are needed in the Dereham and Toftwood area to help identify people at
risk, collect and deliver prescriptions, co-ordinate other volunteers
and to make deliveries to doorsteps.
Ms Webb
said: “It’s so important that in these uncertain and worrying times we
do what we can to help those most in need, particularly those who may
not have family or friends locally to help them.
“We don’t yet know exactly what will be required of us, but I know that many people want to help in this terrible situation.”
